Let’s Go To III Forks! A Restaurant Review

June in Austin means things are getting HOT. Summer is in full swing (even though there’s only technically nine days of summer this month). How can restaurants fight back and help us hungry folks beat the heat? By providing a delicious meal and refreshing drinks. III Forks delivered both in spades as we celebrated our June Austin Food Bloggers Alliance happy hour. Let’s dive in!

I Gotsta Have More Meat!

One of the main highlights of III Forks is its meat. Perhaps that’s a very obvious thing to say, since, you know, it’s a steakhouse. But still, every time I’ve visited here, my meat is cooked perfectly, and it’s SO DAMN TASTY. We got a few items that I don’t believe are even on the menu, like these tasty beef skewers, with morsels of juicy meat practically jumping into my mouth.

In fact, that sounds like a dream come true. Delicious bites of food just heaving themselves full force onto my tongue. What a life. Anyway, you can’t really go wrong with any meat selection here. And again, whether you’re like me and on Team Medium Rare or prefer ruining your steaks by keeping them well done, you’re in good hands.

Bring Me All of the Sides You Have, Please

Much like Ron Swanson wants all the bacon and eggs you have, I’m all about them sides at III Forks. It’s incredibly difficult to choose a favorite, but that won’t stop me from trying! Perseverance is key, kiddos.

On the one hand, the crabcakes are the bomb diggity. These suckers have Creole beurre blanc drizzled all over them. Perhaps you have not tried this kind of sauce before. That would be a drastic oversight on the part of your taste buds. Fix this immediately. I’ll wait while you go pick some up.

Then again, the lamb meatballs with caramelized fennel demi glace are a strong contender, too. There’s something marvelous about plucking a piece of meat from a stick. You get to do that with these lamb meatballs, and I am proud of you for doing so.

OH, BUT WAIT. If you visit during happy hour, you can score big on oysters. Normally $3 a pop, these magnificent morsels are just $1 each. GO WILD with them.

III Forks Summer Cocktails = A Refreshing Visit

Of course, one of the best ways to beat the heat is by cooling off with a cold, soothing beverage. III Forks has a wide variety of beer and wine selections, but the real gem is the summer cocktail. Full disclosure: I’m not entirely sure what all of the ingredients are in this drink. I know there’s rum, pineapple juice, grenadine, and soda water. But I believe there may also be some pure magic and perhaps a few other accoutrements.

The point is, when it’s 1,032 degrees outside, you need to stay hydrated. Why not do it with a little flavor? Pair that refreshing drink with some strip steak or crabcakes and you’ll be livin’ the good life. Cheers!
