Healthier Snacks You Need to Try
Chances are very unlikely you’ll eat three solid meals (or five, if you’re going the European route) every day and that’s it. If you’re like me, you’ll grab for a snack in the afternoon to fight that post-lunch crash. Or maybe you’re a morning snacker, picking something up to tide you over for a few hours. There’s nothing wrong with a snack, but if you’re munching on something with tons of sugar or fat, well…then there IS something wrong. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. There are tons of better-for-you, healthier snacks out there.
I’ll show you a few of my favorites, and I’ma need you to munch (or drink) ASAP. These healthier snacks will curb any snack attack, no matter how vicious. Let’s hop in.
Note: I received samples of some of these products for free, but I only recommend things I actually enjoy and support.
A handful of almonds is a fine snack, but gimme almonds covered in chocolate any day. And ChocZero has found a way to make this chocolate delight SUGAR-FREE. That’s right, instead of some funky substitute with a gross aftertaste, they use monk fruit. The small melon is native to parts of China and Thailand and doesn’t add calories or impact blood sugar levels.
Additionally, these individually-wrapped bites are low carb, non-GMO verified, and have no soy lecithin. But the most important thing is that they’re DELICIOUS. Holy smokes, my mouth is watering right now just thinking about them. The chocolate almond keto bark is my favorite, though they’ve got options for whatever you’re into. Hazelnut? Check. Peanut? You got it. Coconut? You’re crazy, but they gotchoo. The ChocZero has a variety of syrups, as well (like pumpkin pie and maple pecan), and yep – they’re all sugar-free. You can’t go wrong.
Another sugar-free selection, Fizzique for sure falls in the healthier snacks group. Each can has 20 grams of whey protein isolate. That’s enough protein to lift a car. (Please don’t try actually lifting a car). Grab a can before or after a workout or add it to your morning or afternoon routine so that you’ve got energy for the rest of the day.
Each can has just 80 calories, too, which means you don’t need to feel too guilty downing a can. It’ll help curb hunger and aids in muscle recovery, too. You know, from all those cars you’re lifting. My personal favorite is the watermelon, but you do whatever feels right.
Bobo’s Stuff’d Peanut Butter Oat Bar
If you’ve spent even one second on this blog before now, you know I’m a HUGE peanut butter fanatic. You could slab a scoop of peanut butter on a shoe and I’d still probably eat it. Fortunately, I’m not that desperate yet, especially because I’ve got options like Bobo’s.
These oat bars come in delightful little packaging, but that’s not the only thing good about ‘em. These healthier snacks offer solid doses of protein, iron, and dietary fiber, and they’re gluten-free, to boot. The peanut butter is my favorite (combining it with a morning run is FABULOUS), though you can’t go wrong with any choices. Apple pie, almond butter, PB&J…they’re all super tasty.
Coffee Bean Bright Future Blend Coffee and Apple-Inspired Tea
Unless you’re guzzling sweet tea or something else with a ton of sugar, your tea is probably not very unhealthy. But this tea is super cool, so I had to give it a shout out. Through September 30, every purchase of Coffee Bean’s Bright Future Blend coffee or tea donates $1 to help fund schools.
And look at how cute that tin is! The coffee has a dark chocolate flavor and nutty finish, while the tea is more fruity, combining rooibos, orange peel, cornflower, and red crisp apple for a delicious cup. It’s hardly fall in Austin, but the leaves are starting to turn everywhere else. Grab a cup and know you’re helping out our country’s young minds.
