A Sneak Peek at Still Austin’s New Double Barreled Straight Bourbon Whiskey

The good folks at Still Austin are back at it, launching a limited-release Double Barreled Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The new bottle goes on sale at 1 p.m. CDT on Monday, August 22 and retails for $100, tax not included.

This bottle is the latest offering in the company’s Distillery Reserve Series. The whiskey was handmade using 100% Texas grains and is the product of two char-three new American white oak barrels. It was then aged for at least three years and bottled at cask strength at 120.2 proof.

If it’s anything like their Sherry Cask Finished Bourbon, this bottle is going to be an absolute delight.

From Still Austin:

This spirit pays homage to one of our city’s most enduring legacies. Here’s to the coffee-shop philosophers, the late-night scholars, and the countless freethinkers who started in Austin and went on to change the world. For these intrepid Texas souls, we’ve distilled a dark and complex bourbon that arrives with scents of allspice, cherry and clove, followed by tastes of heavy oak, leather, maple and brown sugar. A sublime spirit, worthy of a sublime institution.

Austin illustrator Shaylon Elmore, a graduate of the University of Texas’s School of Fine Arts, did the super cool artwork on the bottle. Shaylon’s grandmother commissions sculptures and his father sells jewelry, so it’s safe to say art runs in his blood.

“This project was a dream come true,” Elmore said. “It allowed me to express what home looks like to me. Austin has become a large part of who I am.”

How to buy the Still Austin Double Barreled Straight Bourbon Whiskey

I’m not sure if this is going to be on par with, say, trying to score Beyonce tickets during her next worldwide tour. But these bottles will still go pretty quickly. So don’t dilly dally, is what I’m saying. And sorry, non-Austinites, this bourbon whiskey is a local offering, so you’ve gotta be able to get it in person. Pickup starts on August 26.

Order a bottle (only one per person) right here at 1 p.m. CDT on Monday, August 22 and pick it up starting that Friday. Cheers!
