Let’s Go To Napa Flats Austin! A Restaurant Review
The first happy hour of the year for the Austin Food Bloggers Alliance had me trekking up north about 6,000 miles to Napa Flats Austin. Okay, it wasn’t really that long, I’m just dramatic. But as soon as I put some of their food into my mouth, it didn’t matter how far I had to drive. It was worth every bite.
And so, here we go on a visit to Napa Flats Austin.
The Tastiest of Apps
If you feel like taking a little visit to Italy without having to hop on a plane, you can just peruse the Napa Flats Austin menu for some appetizers. It’s basically the same thing, just without a man playing the accordion next to your table.
Starters include Woodfired Avocado (YES PLEASE), Napa Queso (melts in your mouth and the world is a better place because of it), and Chonburi Shrimp (highly recommended if you like your shrimps spicy). They’re all cooked to order, and I haven’t had a bad one yet. Perfect for those smaller appetites, but I hope you came hungry because…
Napa Flats Austin Woodfired Pizza Is Magnificent
Is there anything finer in the world than amazing pizza? I would venture to say no, but then again, I’m a pizza maniac. Perhaps you enjoy things like battery acid or running into a wall. Who am I to deprive you of your fun? But if you are also like me and dig pizza (like dog burying a bone level of dig), it’s hard to beat Napa Flats Austin.
These pies are woodfired in the Napa Flats oven, and the result is a perfectly cooked crust. It’s just the right balance of flake and crunch, and the varieties can satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. My personal favorite is the Truffle and Date pizza because the combo of flavors is a little cornucopia of delight on my taste buds. You can eat an entire pie by yourself and not even feel too bad about it.
Such a Spunky Environment, Too
No matter your current living situation, Napa Flats Austin can cater to ya style. Little kids can run themselves ragged on the outdoor playground. A birthday party can enjoy the private dining area in the back. And date night? Whoo! Don’t even get me started. They got you covered, from booths to hightops near the bar.
I’d be remiss if I wrote this without talking about desserts, too. Spoiler alert: they tasty. From seasonal fruit cobblers (currently there’s a tasty banana crumble number going around) to ooey-gooey brownies, you will not be disappointed. And for the gelato fans in the house (i.e. everyone), Napa Flats Austin has homemade gelato that WILL become your new best friend.
Pair these desserts with a fancy cocktail. The Texas Heat could potentially destroy your tongue if you’re not a spicy connoisseur, he says as he sheepishly raises his hand. You can also choose from an expansive wine list (including wine flights) or grab a draft beer. Any place that serves Live Oak Hefeweizen is A-OK in my book.
So stop by Napa Flats Austin for a taste of Italian goodness. And if you have any leftover pizza, you know who to call. Me. It’s me. Call me and I’ll help you eat the pizza.
