With St. Patrick’s Day right upon us, you may be partaking in some festivities over the weekend. Perhaps you’re headed to a bar or attending a party, or maybe even hosting a party of your own. Whatever the case may be, it’s a time for parties. But not all cities are built the same – some of them are just made for throwing soirees, box socials, and what have you. Here’s a look at the classiest cities to throw a party, courtesy of Thumbtack.
The criteria for these selections is simple: which cities are most likely to have a professional bartender at an event? Thumbtack took a look at 70 of the largest metro areas across the country and measured the number of requests for bartenders relative to the population of the area. The result is the Thumbtack Classy Party Index, which ranges from 0 to 100. The classiest cities have a higher number.
So Do I Live In One of the Classiest Cities?
If you’re a California resident, you’re probably among the classiest cities. They have nine of the top 15 representatives on this list. Fresno is No. 1, with an index score of 100. Fresno has more interest in fundraisers than any other California metro, and what better way to impress potential investors than with some sweet, smooth, alcohol?
Lansing, MI is also on the list at No. 6, which is the home of Michigan State University, current dark horses to win the NCAA Tournament. It’s also the state capital, so you know there’s some good schmoozing going on between political and other state events.
Speaking of state capitals, Austin does a fine job representing Texas from the No. 10 spot. While you may not be seeing too many parties hosted on Sixth Street (besides, you know, bachelor and bachelorette parties out the wazoo), there are quite a few nice spots around town for hosting parties. Other cities like San Jose and New Orleans are on the list for similar reasons: people flock to them to celebrate getting married.
