Check This Out: Big Bottom Market Cookbook From Michael Volpatt

Few places have the distinction of being included in Oprah’s “Favorite Things,” yet here Big Bottom Market is. The gourmet deli, marketplace, event venue, and caterer based in Guerneville, CA makes some FANTASTIC biscuits, as well as sandwiches, soups, and salads. And Big Bottom Market co-founder Michael Volpatt has been doing great work during this wacky year of social distancing. The latest treat? A brand new cookbook: Cooking in Place: 50 Days, Stories, and 70+ Recipes to Keep You Sane in Challenging Times.

While sheltered in place, Michael produced Cooking in Place for 50 straight days. The show was featured on Instagram and provided the inspiration for the book. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been trying out a TON of new recipes while we’re practicing social distancing. So to be able to add new items to my repertoire? I am ALL ABOUT IT.

Even better, a percentage of every book sold is going to two non-profits in Sonoma County. The goal is to sell at least 10,000 books and raise $5K for each organization. The Big Bottom Market crew is well on their way to hitting that milestone. And if they sell more than 10,000 books, they’ll continue to donate dollars to non-profit organizations in perpetuity.

Volpatt took all of the images using his iPhone. As someone who also appreciates the art of a good phone photo (“Look at This Instagram” is still a favorite of mine), I fully support this. You can really get some quality shots with an iPhone!

Volpatt is also the author of BISCUIT, a book based on those sweet sweet biscuits they sell at the restaurant in Sonoma County.

Where to Grab the Newest Big Bottom Market Book

Cooking In Place: 50 Days, Stories, and 70+ Recipes to Keep You Sane in Challenging Times is available now. Check out the show to get a taste of the content within its pages and then go grab your copy. Another cool thing: the book is organized by days, not chapters, and covers Volpatt’s time in the kitchen.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s get cookin’!
