Mother’s Day Gifts That Keep On Giving All Year Long
Why do we only have one day to honor our moms? These are the women that raised us, after all! We should be honoring them all throughout the year, whether it’s through eating together, phone calls (for us long-distance children), or giving ‘em gifts they can enjoy whenever, not just for a weekend in May. Luckily, you’re covered on that last point – these Mother’s Day gifts are awesome no matter when you’re giving them. Let’s dive in!

The Cocoa Exchange Taco Night Set
I’m a huge fan of combining two loves, and this gift from The Cocoa Exchange certainly fits that bill. It’s literally impossible to live in Texas without embracing tacos, and when you can give ‘em a chocolate kick, that’s just living your best life. Mother’s Day gifts that involve tacos are genius, but luckily this taco set is good any time of year. The set includes a recipe book featuring recipes like Braised Carnitas, Grilled Street Corn, and Sheet Pan Fajitas. You’ll also get a handful of ingredients to bring these tasty tortillas to life. Things like The Cocoa Exchange’s Sweet & Spicy Cocoa Rub or the Sea Salt Rounds add the perfect complements to ensure mom’s next meal is as innovative as ever.

Poppy Handcrafted Popcorn
I’ll be honest: I’m not a huge fan of popcorn. Luckily, I’m not your mother, and she LOVES popcorn. Particularly when the flavors are a twist on your standard plain, cheddar, or caramel. Whether mom is a fan of savory (Honey BBQ, Rosemary & Olive Oil) or sweet (Dark Chocolate & Cherries), there’s something for everyone here. Most varieties are both vegan and gluten-free, which is a nice bonus for any dietary restrictions. But the important thing is that mom will eat it right up – and these are pretty big portions, so she’ll likely have plenty to share.

Uncommon Green’s Maps Glassware
Some people (re: Boston and Philly sports fans) have an insane amount of pride in their hometown. Others have fond memories of growing up in their town, whether it had a population of five million or five thousand. Maybe there was a swimming hole you loved going to as a kid or a favorite ice cream shop that instantly transports you back to simpler times.
If you have any sort of good vibes about your hometown, you can get a little taste of home wherever you are with Uncommon Green’s Maps Glassware. Available in a variety of popular glass styles, you can receive detailed maps of ANY city and town in the United States. If you want a map of Three Rivers (which consists of a handful of trucks and a Motel 6, if a recent trip through there is any indication), go wild. Each design is precision-engraved entirely around the glass. Nostalgia has never tasted so delicious.

Lana’s Shop Coffee Notepad
For a few years after college, I was very anti-writing things down. I don’t really have a particular reason for this, I just had a mindset of “computer or bust.” As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized that writing things down is both very therapeutic (for once, I’m not looking at a screen!) and a great way to remember things.
Chances are your mom has at least 44,000 more things on her plate than I do, so it can be helpful to jot it all down. This coffee notepad has a lovely witticism at the top and offers plenty of lines to make sure you’re getting your stuff done so you have more time to eat. You know, as is important in life.

American Heritage Chocolate
Conceived of and crafted by a dedicated team of historians, American Heritage Chocolate taps into the stories of chocolate’s past. The delicacy’s Mesoamerican roots date back more than 3,500 years to a time when women in Aztec societies couldn’t even indulge in cacao. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I can’t imagine a life without chocolate. Luckily, those times are far behind us, and we can all eat chocolate until we cannot eat chocolate anymore. Just as life should be.
American Heritage Chocolate offers a blend of 11 spices and ingredients available during the 18th century. You’ll taste the heat of chili peppers (much better than listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers make music), the warmth of vanilla (ice, ice, baby) and the freshness of orange peel (orange you glad I don’t have any more musical references here?). Check out this recipe for yummy, beautiful chocolate buttercream frosting.
Recipe Yield: Approximately 5 cups of frosting
Active Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened and divided
½ cup of AMERICAN HERITAGE® Chocolate Finely Grated Drink Mix
1 AMERICAN HERITAGE® Chocolate block, grated
1 tablespoon low-fat milk
3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
1. Melt ½ cup butter and AMERICAN HERITAGE® Chocolate grated chocolate block in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Remove from heat.
2. Add all remaining ingredients to a large mixing bowl, including melted butter/chocolate. Beat with hand beater until creamy and smooth.
Mother’s Day gifts are grand and all, but it’s important to show mom you love her all throughout the year. Now let’s eat!
