Which Candy Is America’s Favorite During Valentine’s Day? A State-by-State Comparison
It’s a scientific fact that during Valentine’s Day, every single one of us consumes between 16 to 24 pounds of candy and chocolate. It doesn’t matter if you’re married, seeing someone, single, thoroughly opposed to the concept of dating at all…whatever. There’s just so much candy in the air, you cannot help but eat it. Heck, I’ve eaten three cookies today alone simply because they were colorful.
Valentine’s Day by State
Perhaps it’s no surprise that what your favorite candy may be differs depending on where you live. My home state of Illinois, for example, cannot get enough chocolate roses. And because everything is bigger in Texas, my current home state loves entire heart-shaped boxes of chocolate. We ain’t content with just one piece.
How do I know all this? The good folks at CandyStore.com have put together a super-cool interactive map showcasing all of the weird candy that us Americans love to eat. In rather infuriating news, conversation hearts have overtaken heart-shaped boxes of chocolates as the most popular Valentine’s Day candy in America. This begs a legitimate question: what is wrong with everyone’s tastes buds? Those conversation hearts taste like chalk. I don’t know about you, but I pass on eating chalk.
